For nearly the first time in months, a week passed without a big deal restaurant opening. The “lull” won’t last long, as Quince’s little sis Cotogna is slated to open Thursday next Monday, but nonetheless, there are some recent, smaller openings to report from around town:
1. The official grand opening isn’t until later this week, but Locavore is very much up, running, and open to the public. The chef is Jason Moniz, who was last seen at Flora in Oakland. As you can guess, it’s a restaurant centered around local, seasonal and organic products and whole animal cooking. In the earlygoing, the burger has been a big seller; they’re kicking off their housemade sausage program later this week. Open Tuesday through Saturday. 3215 Mission St., between Fair and Virginia, near Valencia; (415) 821-1918 or locavoreca.com.
2. Oh, that cereal eatery Schweet Boks is now open in the Sunset. Just in case you wanted Fruit Loops served to you. But hey, they’re serving Intelligentsia coffee. 2142 Irving St., between 22nd and 23rd Avenues; (415) 992-2119

3. Finally open is Grub, the much-delayed 40-seat comfort spot on Valencia between 18th and 19th Streets. The two most noticeable aspects of chef Enrique Vives’ menu are the options to construct your own burger and/or mac-and-cheese dish. The latter starts at $9, with over a dozen add-ons (including lobster) at a buck each. Other sections of the menu (see it online) include Earth, Surf and Turf, with nothing over $20. The kitchen stays open until 12:30 nightly; brunch is expected to start in three weeks, at which point there will be a build-your-own frittata option and bottomless mimosas. Beer and wine only. 758 Valencia Street, between 18th and 19th; (415) 431-4782 or grubsf.com.
4-5. A pair of openings on the corner of Sutter and Steiner, courtesy of Ms. Tablehopper. Sweet Maple has replaced the shuttered Cassis and is serving up breakfast and lunch daily. Across the street, Sweet Lime has replaced the shuttered Neecha Thai, but is still serving Thai food. Sweet Maple: 2101 Sutter St. , (415) 655-9169; Sweet Lime: 2100 Sutter St., (415) 674-7515
